It operates a unique network of residential schools known as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across India. These schools aim to provide quality education to talented rural children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. NVS follows a non-profit, co-educational, and fully residential schooling system. The selection process for admission is through a national-level entrance examination, ensuring merit-based selection.
